It is advisable to remove the zest from oranges and lemons, as they can be bitter, but you can remove the bitterness by scalding the citrus fruits for 1 minute.

How to make "Orange and Lemon Compote"

Prepare the indicated ingredients.

Scald citrus fruits with boiling water and remove the zest from the orange - it can be bitter. Use it in other recipes. Then cut the fruit into quarters and remove the seeds, if present. Cut into slices and place in a saucepan.

Cut the lemon in the same way as the orange, remove the seeds and cut half the citrus into slices, add to the saucepan.

Add granulated sugar. You can add vanilla sugar or vanilla flavor as desired.

Pour in warm water and place the container on the stove. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium and cook for about 15-20 minutes.

Taste the finished compote, sometimes it happens that you need to add a little granulated sugar if the orange was not too sweet.

Pour the compote into a jug, cups or glasses, serve hot or cold - it tastes equally delicious!
