- Flour - 240 Grams
- Sugar - 270 Grams (160 grams - for the pie, 110 grams - for the filling)
- Cocoa powder - 25 Grams
- Baking powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
- Soda - 1/2 Teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 Teaspoon
- Water - 455 Milliliters (250 ml. - for the cake, 125 ml. - for the filling, 80 ml. - to dilute the starch)
- Vegetable oil - 80 Milliliters
- Vinegar 6% - 1 Teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 2 Teaspoons (1 tsp for the cake, 1 tsp for the filling)
- Frozen cherries - 500-600 Grams
- Corn starch - 14 grams
- Cinnamon - 1/2 Teaspoon

How to make Lean Cherry Chocolate Pie

Prepare all ingredients.

Transfer the frozen cherries to a saucepan, add sugar and water. Place on medium heat.

When the filling boils, add the starch dissolved in cold water, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Boil for 3-5 minutes and remove from heat.

For the dough, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Make a depression in the center and pour in water, vegetable oil, vinegar and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.

The dough should be thick but fluid.

Line the bottom of the dish with foil or baking paper. Place the cherry filling on the bottom.

Place the dough on top gradually. Bake the pie in a preheated oven to 180 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Check readiness with a dry skewer.

Let the pie sit for 15 minutes, then gently turn it over. Serve hot or chill in the refrigerator.
