How to make "Breton shortcrust pastry"

Prepare your ingredients.

Whisk the butter and granulated sugar for three minutes until smooth.

Add egg yolk, vanilla (or vanilla sugar) to the butter and sugar and beat again.

Combine flour with baking powder and coarse sea salt.

Pour flour mixture into a bowl of butter mixture, knead the dough.

Form a "sausage" from the dough, wrap it in plastic wrap, put it in the freezer for 1 hour. The Breton shortcrust pastry is ready. I decided to make cookies from it.

Place brown cane sugar on a plate and roll in the dough on all sides.

Carefully cut the dough into pieces about 5 mm thick.

Place the cookies on a baking sheet at some distance from each other. Whisk the remaining egg white and brush over the cookies.

Sprinkle brown cane sugar on top of the cookies, you can simply dip the cookies in the sugar. Instead of sugar, you can sprinkle the cookies with almond petals.

Bake cookies in an oven preheated to 180-200 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Watch out for readiness, cookies bake very quickly.

Cookies made from Breton shortbread dough are called "saber", which means "shortbread". It is very tasty, crumbly, with a pleasant creamy flavor in the taste. Enjoy your tea!
