How to make Norwegian Apple Pie
Prepare your ingredients.
Chop the butter, beat the eggs into it, add 2 tbsp. tablespoons of sugar, a pinch of salt.
Add flour, knead the dough, you can use a mixer at low speed.
Allow the dough to "rest" for about 30 minutes, during which time start filling.
Peel and core the apples, pour water into the pan, add 5 tbsp. tablespoons of sugar.
Add 5 apples, cut into wedges, sprinkled with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Add vanilla sugar, simmer for 15 minutes, until liquid evaporates.
Put the dough in a split form (26-27 cm in diameter), previously covered with baking paper, flatten it, do not make the sides.
Put the apples stewed in a pan on the dough.
Cut the remaining five apples into thin slices and lay on top, trying to keep their shape, brush with apricot jam. Bake for 1.5 hours at 190 degrees.
Before removing the pie from the mold, use a knife or spatula to run along the sides until the apple filling is frozen.
Transfer the pie to a plate and serve cooled to room temperature.
The cake is delicious. The apple filling has turned almost into marmalade, thanks to the high pectin content in apples.
