How to cook Austrian Baron Cabbage Strudel
Prepare all the ingredients you need.
Combine water, flour, a pinch of salt and vegetable oil.
Knead a soft and elastic dough. Collect it in a ball, brush with vegetable oil, wrap in plastic wrap and leave for 20-30 minutes.
In the meantime, prepare the filling. Cut the onion into cubes and fry until soft.
Add coarsely chopped cabbage.
Sauté everything together until the cabbage is done you want. I like it hotter. Add the cream and simmer the cabbage until tender, about 10-15 minutes more. Finally, add salt and spices to taste.
Lightly dust a clean kitchen towel with flour and roll the dough on it in a large rectangle until transparent.
Lubricate it with melted butter and evenly lay out the cooled filling without reaching the edge on one side about 7-10 cm, and on the other three by 2-3 cm.Wrap the short edges over the filling and start rolling the roll, each round of dough must be greased with melted butter …
Using the same towel, carefully transfer the strudel onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes. In the process, you can get a roll and grease it a couple more times with the rest of the oil.
Strudel with cabbage is ready. Delicious both warm and cold. We serve it on our own or with the addition of sour cream. Enjoy your meal!
